# Glossary

This page is a quick way to understand how Camber works when using the [Camber API](/api-reference).

There are a few key primitives in Camber:

* **Document** - A document is a file that you want to verify.
* **Person** - A person is an individual who uploads a document. This is not a user.
* **Document Verification** - A document verification is the process of extracting and validating data from a document.
* **License** - A license is a state-issued nursing license.
* **License Verification** - A license verification is the process of verifying a person's license.
